The 890 engine is about as good as a p twin can get, esp after an intake and tune. The Duke is significantly sharper and peppier than my adventure, and is just as nimble as they come. The 1290r is just a different thing, man. I've had hayabusa's, r1's, an ebr 1190, z1000, etc. NOTHING feels like a 1290 sdr.

If it helps, I've gone from a BMW R1200RT, to a Ducati Multistrada, to a 2015 KTM Super Adventure, now a Super Duke GT. You wouldn't miss the performance of the Duke R. I went for the SD GT to get back to a 17" front wheel. You feel so much more connected to the road than with a 19", I don't care what the reviews say.
It’s only once we switched the aids off that it became apparent just how much drive the KTM is trying to generate. It’s a very similar setup found on the BMW GS, the new Ducati Multistrada Enduro and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure. There is no negativity to either system; electronics are in a golden age and on the KTM they perform fantastically.
